Benefits of Vegetarianism

fruits-and-vegetablesMy wife and I have been vegetarians for over a year now. That is really saying a lot considering I used to love my Quarter Pounders with cheese. Rachel has actually leaned more toward the vegan side although we both have to have our cheese. Ever since we have started eating healthier we have seen and felt vast improvements in our health.

Just type in a search about benefits of eating vegetarian and you will get back thousands of results regarding the health benefits. Everything from lowering cholesterol, lowering blood pressure, losing weight, better sight and a more rested body are only a few of the many health benefits of a vegetarian diet. But there are other benefits which you may have not considered.

It is such a pleasure to clean the vent hood over the oven with a duster. No more grease build-up! No greasy, caked on fat from burnt meat dishes anymore. Clean up in general after meals is quite enjoyable.

The stove stays less messy and grease free. I used to hate having to scrub the stove down after dinner because it would seem like the grease would just stay there. Oh, and you know the exhaust fan to get all the grease fumes out of the house?В  Haven’t used it at all. I don’t even know if the thing works..hahaha

The grocery bill is a lot less now as well. In the beginning the bill was outrageous and I almost considered chucking the whole vegetarian thing. But after we purchased our first few staples, our grocery bill has been less each month. Imagine all the money that is saved not purchasing meat. I couldn’t even tell you what meat prices are now…I haven’t looked in over eight months. But I can tell ya what a zucchini costs per pound.

Oh and to go along with the less greasy mess, you also use less dish detergent. I am sorry I have to have super clean dishes so if it meant filling the sink twice to do that, so be it. Not anymore!

See there are many benefits to living a vegetarian lifestyle other than just health. If you are already eating vegetarian now, I’ll bet that you can come up with a few side benefits we haven’t thought of yet.
